Naguib Mahfouz, the first Arab writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, has died after suffering from a bleeding ulcer

Naguib Mahfouz is considered one of the foremost writers in modern Arabic literature. Born in the al-Jamaliyya district of Cairo, Egypt, on December 11, 1911, he was the youngest of seven children and lived there until the age of six (or twelve, depending on biographer).

He began his writing career at the age of 17 He published his first novel in 1939 (The Games of Fate), and since that date has written thirty-two novels and thirteen collections of short stories. In his old age he has maintained his prolific output, producing a novel every year.

The novel genre, which can be traced back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in Europe, has no prototypes in classical Arabic literature. Although this abounded in all kinds of narrative, none of them could be described as we understand the term "novel" today.

Arab scholars usually attribute the first serious attempt at writing a novel in Arabic to the Egyptian author Muhammad Hussein Haykal. The novel, called "Zaynab" after the name of its heroine, and published in 1913, told in highly romanticized terms the story of a peasant girl, victim of social conventions. Soon after, writers like Taha Hussein, Abbas Al-Aqqad, Ibrahim Al-Mazini and Tawfiq Al-Hakim were to venture into the unknown realm of fiction.

The Arabic novel, however, was to wait for another generation for the advent of the man who was to make it his sole mission. Naguib, who was born to a middle-class family in one of the oldest quarters in Cairo, was to give expression in powerful metaphors, over a period of half a century, to the hopes and frustrations of his nation. Readers have so often identified themselves with his work, a great deal of which has been adapted for the cinema, theater and television, that many of his characters become household names in Egypt and elsewhere in the Arab world.

On the other hand, his work, though deeply steeped in local reality, appeals to that which is universal and permanent in human nature, as shown by the relatively good reception his fiction has met in other cultures. In English and other languages, since the appearance in 1966 of his first translated novel Midag Alley, he has been widely read.

A study of Mahfouz's output shows his fiction to have passed through 4 distinguishable stages. The first (1939-44) comprises three novels based on the history of ancient Egypt. They provide a useful insight into the germination of the then budding young talent. Admittedly written under the influence of Sir Walter Scott's historical romances, the last of the three, "The Struggle of Thebes", is particularly interesting for the way in which the novelist brought history to bear on the political scene at the time.

The novel draws on the heroic struggle of the Egyptians and their patriotic Pharaohs to expel the Hyksos, as foreign ruling invaders, from their country. The novel bore a relevance to Egyptian sociopolitical reality at the time (British occupation and a ruling aristocracy of foreign stock) that was all too obvious to be missed.

Mahfouz had meant to write a whole series of novels encompassing the full history of Pharaonic Egypt; he even did the research required for such a monumental task. In the event, and perhaps luckily for the development of the Arabic novel, he was voluntarily deflected from his intended course and the scene of his next novel, "A New Cairo" (1945), was placed in the raw reality of its day. This marks the beginning of the second stage in the novelist's career, which culminated in the publication in 1956-57 of his magnum opus, "The Cairo Trilogy". The novels of this phase include six titles, of which three are English translation, i.e. "Midag Alley", "The Beginning", and "The End", and Volume 1 of the Cairo Trilogy ("Palace Walk"). In this period of his writing, the novelist studied the sociopolitical ills of his society with the full analytical power afforded him by the best techniques of realism and naturalism.

What emerges from the sum total of these novels is a very bleak picture of a cross section of Egyptian urban society in the twenty or so years between the two World Wars. A work which stands by itself in this phase is "The Mirage" (1948), in which Mahfouz experimented for the first and last time with writing a novel closely based on Freud's theory of psycho-analysis. For his Trilogy, the peak of his realist/ naturalist phase, the Egyptian people will forever stand in their great novelist's debt. For without this colossal saga novel, in which he gives an eyewitness account of the country's political, social, religious and intellectual life between the two wars, that period of turmoil in their nation's life would have passed undocumented.

After writing the Trilogy, which met with instant wide acclaim and served to focus renewed attention on his previous work, Mahfouz fell uncharacteristically silent for a number of years (1952-59) - the Trilogy having been completed four years before its publication. Different theories exist as to why this happened.

One theory held by Ghaly Shukri, a well-known Mahfouz scholar, is that by writing the Trilogy Mahfouz had brought the realistic technique to a point of perfection which he could not possibly surpass. He thus needed a period of incubation in which to look for a new style. Whatever the reason, when Mahfouz serialized his next novel in the Cairo daily Al-Ahram in 1959, his readers were in for a surprise. The people of "Our Quarter" (available in English) as children of Gebe-lawi, was a unique allegory of human history from beginning to the present day. "The Thief and the Dogs" (available in English), published in 1982, is in a way like switching from a Dickens or a Balzac to a Graham Greene or a William Golding, so radical was the change that this style underwent in the third stage of his development.

No longer viewing the world through realist/naturalist eyes, he was now to write a series of short powerful novels at once social and existential in their concern. Rather than presenting a full colorful picture of the society, he now concentrated on the inner working of the individual's mind in its interaction with the social environment. In this phase his style ranges from the impressionistic to the surrealist, a pattern of evocative vocabulary and imagery binds the work together, an extensive use is made of the stream of consciousness, or to use a more accurate term in the case of Mahfouz, free indirect speech.

On the other hand, while the situation is based on reality, it is often given a universal significance through the suggestion of a higher level of meaning. Just as his realistic novels were an indictment of the social conditions prevailing in Egypt before 1952, the novels of the sixties contained much that was overtly critical of that period. In the years following 1967, his writing ranged from surrealist, almost absurd short stories and dry, abstract, unactable playlets, to novels of direct social and political commentary. Mahfouz himself was aware of the new turn his work had taken. In the mid-seventies we find Mahfouz again searching for a new style. It would appear that, having been diverted by national traumatic events from the course he had embarked on in the early sixties, he was no longer able to return to it.

Or it may be that in his old age, with a life's experience behind him, he felt at last that he could Arabicize the art of the novel. For it is since then that we observe the sporadic emergence of a number of novels which justify the proposition of a fourth stage in his literary development(which has yet to be studied). What is remarkable about the novels of this stage, of which we can count five, is their departure from the norms of novel writing as they evolved in Europe over the last two centuries; these are the norms which conceive of the novel as a work of indivisible unity which proceeds logically from a beginning to a middle to an end. But Mahfouz no longer wants any of that.

He now harks back to the indigenous narrative arts of Arabic literature, particularly as found in the Arabian Nights and other folk narratives in which Arabic literature abounds. While any talk of an organic unity in these works is precluded, the presence of what may be called, for the lack of a better term, a cumulative unity producing a total effect of sorts, is undeniable.

It is this form that Mahfouz has been experimenting with for the last ten years or so in novels like The Epic of the Riff-Raff", "The Nights of "The Thousand and One Nights" and others. In his evocation of both the form and the content of these classical Arabic narrative types, and his utilization of them to pass judgment of the human condition past and present, Mahfouz appears to open endless vistas for the young Arab novelist to find a distinct voice of his own.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made the offer to George Bush on Tuesday. Thursday is the deadline set by the UN Security Council for Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities, and Iran faces possible sanctions if it fails to comply.
Ahmadinejad said: "I suggest we talk with Mr Bush, the president of the United States, in a live television debate about world issues and ways out of these standoffs.
"We would voice our opinions and they would too. The debate should be uncensored, above all for the American public."

The White House called the suggestion a "diversion" from the Thursday deadline and refused the invitation.

Here we have two different points of view , iran sees that BUSH wont agree because he have a weak appearence after lebanon war , on the other hand USA is accusing iran that this move is only to make diversion over uranium enrichment issue .

regardless the truth behind each one's reaction , the idea of making debate online is very interesting , like a chess game , whoever loses will shutup forever , but this will be too risky for bush , because bush depends on lies to convence his people , misleading them .. being in such debate will be totally different , because lies will not convence his people if it was said in such debate .ahmad najad proved how much clever he is in politics till now , the only loser at the whole line is bush , because he is losing his popularity by time , every minute his war over iraq continues he loses more and more .

Today a train stopped at a sign , but unfortunately the next train moving in the same line continued at its full speed , the result was 58 dead and 178 injured

Hearing that there was atrain accident is not considered now a hot news in Egypt , it is the every day event ,the egyptina railways are living now one of its worst conditions since it was built !!

At this hard time there is only one question , who is responsible? Who will take the responsibility for this disaster ?

I believe that there is a filter for this responsibility in egypt , the ladder of responsibility stops always at a certain altitude !! leaving us no choice to judge the right person .

What is remarkable is that who ever takes the highest chair in this ladder and start to modify in the system of trains doen’t have a chance to do any thing , because once he takes the lead a disaster occurs , and instead of looking for the reasons and try to fix it , they look for who will be removed and replaced !!!

Those who were burned alive few years ago .. did their families receive any amount of money ? did they receive what they were promised to have ? most of them needed this money , it was a life of death matter for them.

The funny thing is that we already have previous accident that has an opened file till now , and our government come out to say that we will pay for those who were injured in the last accident ,cant they wait till they finish the first case before giving more promises they will never keep ??

The system of trains is very very old , and using old fashion equipments , even trains are not connected to the outer world !!

Once the driver take the train outside the station he is isolated of the world , if any thing happened he will never know and he will never have the ability to avoid any accident ,, assuming he will stay alive , at this case he willgo to jail , the poor man never had a chance of survival .
This system needs a revolution not only changing the headquarter once a disaster occur , we have to start looking at problems and first step on solution is to find causes with honest intention to rebuild this system , and make it more safe.

I think the government is now trying anew technique to reduce the population , and solve as much as possible of our problems , and it is working ,in this new technique the father dies , and the son doen’t find who will raise him , so he doesn’t go to school because he have to work for living at small age , this way schools will be kept clean and empty ,and god knows how many other problems will be solved this way!!

This is the question now , who won this war ??

For the first time we have a war that no one can say "I WIN", Israeli army lost a lot in this war and didn’t establish any advance over Hezbollah in a direct fight , reflecting weakness and lake of information , Also Hezbollah is now facing the phantom of Syria and Iran , trying to prove that it is not serving their purposes .

There is no a winner in any war , losing civilians in both sides is un-recovered , children who have seen death will never be like before , They simply got older suddenly .

But lets admit one thing , Hezbollah proved that Israeli army is weaker than it looks , this army who is attacking civilians in Palestine regularly in a way that made him forget how real war looks like , it is easy to go and destroy a few buildings , but when real fight came we saw them crying running scared .

On the other hand if Hezbollah lost his weapon at this critical stage , then Israel will gain what it couldn’t get by direct fight , it will have Lebanon in a plate of silver .

I keep asking myself a question , why didn’t any one blame Israel for killing civilians and starting a war without a reasonable reason ? If we looked back we will find that when Hezbollah attacked the soldiers , he attacked them in Lebanon lands that are already occupied by Israeli army , Hezbollah didn’t attack Israel as they claimed later , Hezbollah was simply resisting , and trying to get some of Lebanon rights back .

On the other hand Israel itself changed the reason for starting this war at the beginning several times , at first they said it is for destroying Hezbollah ,and getting back the soldiers (which could have been retrieved by negotiations) , then after Hezbollah started lunching missiles over north Israel , the army announced that the reason of this war to make sure that Hezbollah will not be able to lunch more of this missiles again , which he couldn’t achieve even after 30 days of fighting , Forgetting that Israel is the one who started targeting civilians !!!

Looking at number of dead in both sides we see a clear fact talking about itself , Israel was targeting civilians in purpose , all those smart missiles , satellite photos on a side , and this huge number of (civilians who died by mistake ) on the other side , can't be a coincidence , but accusing Hezbollah for using Lebanon people as a human armor is a stupid accusation , Hezbollah couldn’t do any thing to the fighters bombarding complete neighborhoods bringing down buildings over the heads of its people , this cant be described by any thing but barbarian actions , brings to heads what Nazis was doing in the ww2 over Britain .

Hezbollah will be the winner in one case , if he can keep the right to start fire any time and any where as long as Israel keeps occupying parts of Lebanon , this is know as (resistance) for any country who suffers occupation , and is usually called terrorism by any country who supports fascism.

Unfortunately we are living now in the era of LIES , where The leaders name things as they like , lie to their people , As Hitler said , the bigger the lie is the more it is able to be believed , and shuffling papers makes no way for good to express himself any more , putting Hezbollah and Hamas in the same side of Qaeda , putting Iran and Syria in the same side of Afghanistan didn’t leave place for truth any more , misclassifying them may one day make them choose terror as final option .

For example Syria , if we looked at its current status , we will find that it is occupied by Israel !! yes Israel the Son of USA in the region , the capital of piece on the eyes of the world , Israel is the white , Syria is black , Israel is the angel , Syria is the devil , but since when was the angel the beginner on attacking the devil ????

Syria is wrong yes , but not for supporting Hezbollah , it is wrong to stay till now in silence not trying to end occupation , keeping this silence give the enemy the opportunity to take more steps into threatening more and more till the day when they do like they did to Iraq .

I am full of anger now , not only me , every one see the whole truth will get angry , What was committed was a crime against humanity and those who did it must not leave without punishment.
- I wish that people of USA see what their president do to our nations .
- I wish they see what Israel really did , and keep doing .
-I wish that they see the ugly face of USA Allies in this region .

This is not my full wish list , my wish list gets bigger every day , maybe if I didn’t hold myself I would write hundreds of wishes … but my best wish is that one day I find this wish list gets smaller not bigger ,decreases not increases , because then I will begin to see things gets better not worse .

Politics proved that it cant work with multitasking , by the time we are all talking about Lebanon there are hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people living in tough situations , even food cant be found there , Israel is surrounding them turning their places as a huge prison , the only difference is that in prison they give food !!
Destroying houses , killing children, preventing even medicine from passing to Palestinian is now every day news over there , the saddest thing is that what they are suffering is inhuman , but the inhumanity of what is occurring now in Lebanon made it a normal thing or less important issue !!
Politicians are now talking about one issue …Lebanon , and in their spare time they talk about Iran and uranium issue , as if Palestinian people doesn’t have right to even be discussed in the political play ground .
The strange is that USA shout and fill the world crying if any thing wrong happened in Egypt towards any group of people , and warn the whole world from the possible dangerous the that world could be in IF Iran could complete the uranium cycle , forgetting that Israel already made the nuclear weapon illegally and using racism against its people , but as usual Israel is always right , and Arab are the terrorists , we cant talk about criticizing Israel in Europe without risking going to jail , This is the real democracy , Do what ever you do , Say what ever you want to say , but don’t hurt feelings of Jews , because if you did so you will go to jail , even if you are saying the truth !!

I used to go and see graduation projects of engineering colleges all over Egypt , Every year they are all gathered in Cairo , After the third year of doing this I found that there is no new , every year is a mirror to the previous year , it only shows lake of support in the college , most of graduation projects are self funded , this puts limits on quality and materials used .
An other thing that makes me wonder is that till now there is no plans to make more than department join the same project , I don’t see a meaning of making a project by one department , When I see a robot made by electronic engineer I say wow good control , but poor mechanical design , and the same for the mechanical machine made by mechanical engineer , I say if only the control system was automatic !!
We have the qualifications and the potential to do such a thing , the Egyptian product that is full designed by US , but this will not be done by dreaming .
I was watching job market for three years now , I saw three generations get graduated of this college ,I have seen what they did , and I found one interesting thing which is the market doesn’t support the engineer who wants to design some thing , all the market opens his arms to the plug and play engineer , the engineer who doesn’t know any thing about the device in front of him , and when it is damaged his duty is to call the company that made it to come and replace it !!
It is easy to be creative , but it is easier to break a creative mind , no wonder we find most of our GOOD engineers sell them selves to the international market ,why because the government and the system is doing what it can to break them , I remember in my first year my impression when I saw graduation project , at that time I was taking some summer courses in advanced control techniques , at that time when I visited Cairo I looked at most of the projects asking my self is this a graduation project ? because I was able to do this , I was able to make what they did as a graduation project alone !!! not every thing there but I can say that 40% of the projects there was doable by me using my growing knowledge , why is that ? it was because there is no new ideas , in India they use colleges to solve manufacturing problems , and at the end of the year they get new solution , saving thousands of dollars ,why ? because the student work for free , after graduation his price rises rapidly so it is more economical to use him while he is for free , and for him it is a good opportunity to have a real time project .
In Egypt they started doing this but as usual they didn’t enter the stage of making more than one department in one project , and give them suitable fund .
We really have great minds ,I can touch them every where , but we don’t have any programs to develop those minds and make them some thing great , the proof for this is that non of the Egyptian scientist that make discoveries or get Nobel prizes can do this in Egypt , because in Egypt we have a hostile environment against research , here we are now programmed on buying new tech , not trying to get the KNOW HOW technology and try to apply it here , what I see now is the counter ,we are encouraging disabling this fresh minds and force them to be slaves to foreign technologies .
I wish that I find some day a real program that enables us to make our own car ,our own ship , our own food , and have some self dependence .

For Israel it was proven that peace means only cease fire , diplomacy is that activity which can be used to justify any crimes making this crimes looks more reasonable for public .
Egypt is on peace with Israel , what did it gain after more than 30 years ? this year 3 dead policemen , last year 5 policemen were killed across borders , hundreds of Egyptians arrested in Israel and put in person without any trial , this Is what Israel did , but what Egypt did in return ? nothing , not even saying WHY?
Is this peace ? or surrender ? any government that has dignity should resign for not keeping our rights , who is responsible for those poor dead soldiers across the borders ?
If Israel was keen about that non of this activities would have happened , the one who opened fire is not alone takes his decisions without orders , he is the last in one long chain of responsibilities , it is more like testing reactions in the Egyptian side to make sure that there is no danger at all from this side , to start acting freely with other countries around it .
And I am sure that one day Egypt turn will come , not today but it is getting closer , I can feel it and smell it too ,what is left ? Lebanon and Syria ? now we are watching the end of Lebanon coming.. or it is just the beginning? And Syria was finished along time ago , since 1973 , what is left is the final touch of a bloody artist .
Iran is outside this play yard , it has interests in this region but it wont go into a direct war , this will make iran weaker and stops against its dreams of growing .
Diplomacy proved that it is only the way of the weaker , a place to cry at while we watch the killer finishes his victim in cold blood , UN is nothing but a tool in the hand of USA ,uses it as a calming rod in the reactor , cool things down before a nuclear reaction start , then it pull it again after a while and continue what it was doing.
Arab are talking about peace since 70's , what did we gain after 30 years of running after it ? we gained world disrespect , we gained much weaker community , Peace was never rejected by arab , it was Israel that was always destroying every thing ,then it come back and say , Arab doesn’t want peace , and Arab start to prove for the world that they want it very much , and every time they have to lower their expectations and ask for less , and less , Now we are asking for much lower than what is considered OUR RIGHTS , thanks to peace .
It is clear that Israel is only trying to win time till it achieve its dream From nile to furat , it is still there in their flag , looking at us and laughing saying to each idiot talking about peace I am here and I am coming for you one day , only when I am ready .
If Israel wants peace , the first thing that should have been done along time ago was removing this symbol from that ugly flag , the flag that contains racism in each inch.
Hitler believed in Aryan race and how it is the most noble race in the face of this earth , and now Israel is thinking the same , even Jew who has eastern roots is treated as second class in Israeli community , can this tell you any thing ?

They will never teach us how to act in wars ,so as a Muslim I say no … in wars they turn into animals in the jungle , we don’t .. simply because we have morals , ask history if you don’t believe me , ask about what happened in Spain , how it was in its golden era when it was ruled by Muslims , and how was Muslims treated when they lost control .
What people see now is not the real Islam , simply because if we were acting as real Muslims we wouldn’t be in such situation.
It is not a call for racism , it is a call for looking back to history , Islam is not just a religion , it is a way of living , how to treat your brother, your mother , your family ,your neighbor even if he is not a Muslim!!
I only wish death for every Israeli person who find a pleaser in seeing Arabic blood running in streets , I wish death for every American soldier who find no problem in shooting a women holding its child in the car , just because her car is in front of his car!!
In time of wars it is forbidden for Muslim to kill old man ,child ,or woman .
But when you face an enemy who doesn’t appreciate any of this morals , and we don’t have any way to make him understand that his fight is with fighting men , not with civilians then and only then those men will try to do what is only necessary , but they don’t make it excuse for killing civilians without necessity , Israel didn’t give Hezbollah much of choice ,actually it was forcing him to target cities , although he gave them more than warning .
Any one who say after this war that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization must review his reasons , Hezbollah is a resistance , It is normal to call any kind of resistance A terrorist activity because it is simply acting against the one who said that !!
But history always say the truth ..after afew years , and after a few thousands of dead .
When I was young I was only thinking about war as some thing that happens for others , because they both agreed to enter it , but when I became older I recognized that war is not always a choice .. some times it is a price should be paid to live in dignity , it is clear now that Israel was preparing for that war along time ago .
But it is also clear that Israel didn’t gather enough information about Hezbollah ,or Hezbollah was clever enough to know that Israel is going to do some thing and time is not in his side , so he tried not to give them time to think or put a good plan , also it is clear that Israel didn’t expect that Hezbollah will be well equipped , and well trained .
Israel now is facing a real war for a change , facing men who are able to fight back , for ages Israel was using its tanks against civilians in Gaza , using its soldiers against women in western bank , this was happening for a long time , till the army forgot how the real fight is , and how the real death looks like , and this is what makes Israel covers this by showing its ability to kill civilians , I can say now with clear conscience that Israeli army have proved how disable they are , and how cowered they behave when it come to the real combat , in land they are like a wet chicken cries for seeing blood , but in the air they are the brave eagles who can destroy the building burying children under it !!
I give them a big salute for their brave activities in the battle field, indeed what an army!!
I don’t care now about who would get out of this war winning , it is enough for me to see Hezbollah with his limited power and technologies dropping Israeli nose to the ground of Lebanon , If It was one of the arab armies , which is now more disable than an old lady , there would be another situation for sure , all I hope for now is that our victorious leaders shut up and stop pretending that they are helping Lebanon people , because they are only helping their chairs , and helping their rotten systems based on corruption ,and lies .
One word to hassan nasrallah , keep going we support you as nations without real leaders , the president of Venezuela did what no Arab leader dared to do , One deep thanks to this president who still have awaken conscience.

What is terrorism ?
Who could be a terrorist and who have the right to classify a group or a person as one ?And how did he gain this ability ? because he knows better ? or he has the power to make his opinion Right regardless being true or not ?
Can a state or a nation be a terrorist by nature and be treated based on this ?And does this give any one the right to exterminate those people even if they were civilians ?
Is there any thing against having a hidden terrorist lying behind a government ?on an other word why cant we add the definition of a terrorist country ?
What is the possibilities to have a country that has advanced powerful army ,government ,and all possible powers .. and use all this to spread fear and death all around its borders and also inside its borders .. without being accused to be a country that supports terrorism ?
And why is that happening now ? with Israel ? what is the difference between Israel and Afghanistan?
Afghanistan was in the USA agenda before 9/11 , to be more accurate it was in the agenda when Taliban leaders destroyed the two statues ,at that time USA knew that it is out of control and must be stopped at the nearest chance .
Israel is serving USA and they are both working for the same purpose ,destroy all Arab countries who refuses to obey !!
Now the most important question to me , What is the difference between USA and Ben laden ?
As a matter of a fact that no one is talking about now , ben ladin is made in USA .. trained by CIA , WHY cant USA admit that the terrorist behind all this wasn’t Muslims or Arab , it was USA itself who created that beast and now it is treating arab based on his acts ?
What is the difference between Israel and south Africa before the end of racism ?
Is it true that there is no rules in wars ? all rules should be broken ?
Is it true that israel is using the principle of :
-"Why do you kill me ?"
-" because I cant .. and you are weaker?"
Where is media among all this chaos ?
What did USA mean by constructive chaos in middle east ?
Could chaos be constructive?
Or it is relative , USA need chaos to justify its existence in the region ? chaos and instability are the food necessary for USA to live ?
If we should accuse one person for murdering all those Lebanon innocent people , should it be :
-Bush - Olmert - Hassan nasralla
Is it boring to look for answers to this questions ?
Or it is just hard to admit some facts that looks now very clear to every one ?
I am not looking for answers because it is known already , actually answers are now talking by itself .

Till now what is occurring in Lebanon is not a war , it is one side bombarding the other side with bombs , while the other side trying to convince the first side not to do that !!!
Israel as usual is avoiding direct contact with Hezbollah ,so instead it is using the civilians as hostages , it will keep killing civilians till Hezbollah retreats .
This behavior is not anew thing in the Israeli strategy , this is what it always do ,Why ???
Because even a child knows that Israel cant stand a long war outside its borders , The structure of its army depends on the whole population between 17 -30 , meaning that being at war make the country in a standby mode , affecting the economy badly by time .
The question now , why is this war ? why now ? few days ago hassan nasrallah said that he had information that Israel was planning for another invasion or attack on Lebanon , and what happened on the borders few weeks ago forced Israel to start this war earlier without gathering the necessary information , Israel lost the surprise factor which is a vital thing in its strategy when attacking another country , also most of expert says that this war is unlike any other war , the topography of Lebanon is not like Sinai or Syria , it is not a plane area every thing is revealed for it ,making a direct contact with Hezbollah a tough mission , disables the air coverage , It is like an other Vietnam , lake of information about Hezbollah and his abilities make the direct contact a risk Israel cannot stand , all this will make Israel keep doing the dirty work , it will keep killing civilians and infrastructure to prove that it is gaining points against Hezbollah .
Few days ago there was 9 soldiers killed by Hezbollah , in this little battle Hezbollah used night vision devices , this means that Hezbollah is not like any other militia , it is well trained , well equipped , and ready for any invasion .
Hezbollah targeted a chemical factory , sending a message to Israel , if you kept your dirty behavior against my civilians I can hurt yours as well , Haifa is full of factories , till now Hezbollah didn’t target any of them , while it can do that and kill few hundreds of civilians in Haifa , but Hezbollah is a resistance in the first place ,and it is not his behavior to target civilians ,unless Israel pushed too hard .
While Israeli army is trying to keep a line on the Lebanon borders it is losing more men and tanks , making it a bad sign for any possible invasion , the observer will see that the dead and injured in both military sides are almost equal , the formations of Hezbollah is not affected and ready for a long tough fight , on the other side Israel cant stand having lots of dead of its soldiers .
This make me ask a question , what next ?? what will Israel do to retrieve some of its dignity ?
On the other hand the world is behaving towards this war with a full support to Israel , even when the was UN members killed by Israel no one accused it for any thing , I wonder if Hezbollah by mistake killed those UN members , what was the world going to say about that ? may be they will say .. " this is a terrorist organization , this behavior was expected " .

By the time that we find some countries declared its support for Israel , and some others used the VITO against stopping fire , we didn’t see any response from most of Arab countries , as if Lebanon is a country lies in the pacific ocean !!
This reflects a success for the American strategy in the Middle east , It used all what it can to hit Iraq fast and did terrible things there , leading that country into a disaster ,making every Arabic leader think twice before opposing its well , or even threatening Israel .
I will take my country for example ,Egypt .. It was supposed to do some thing useful as we all got used to , but not this time for many reasons ,which I will state some here .
Economically Egypt is passing through tough time , it wont survive any disturbance , Any sign of war or instability will make it worse .
Politically Egypt is buying the USA silence on what is happening now for judges and reporters , and all the disasters that occurred after elections , Although there are freedom for writing but there is no grantee that you will not go to jail after you write what you like !!
Also Egypt doesn’t keep good relations with Iran after the revolution , and as a result it doesn’t support Hezbollah , but the good thing is that it didn’t criticize Hezbollah for what it did , and at least it is talking about stopping the war .
The observer will know that Egypt will not enter any war unless it is protecting Egyptian affairs.
Anwar il sadat said that October's war is that last war , meaning that Egypt after that war will put its first priority on development trying to get what it missed through several wars.
The main reason in my opinion is that Arab are not united any more , making them weaker than before ,declaring a certain situation by one country could make it alone in the stage , ready to get destroyed or even threaten like Syria , this is related to what happened in 11/9 , what happened in that day changed lots of things , made any Arab country think twice before saying some thing make USA mad , USA used this accident well ,and gained more powers enables it to move alone attacking one country ,or making penalties against a certain country without the approval of UN .
The only victim now is both Lebanon and Palestine people.
